Well, you really don't walk a cat, a cat walks you. Recall the quote, "Dogs have owners, Cats have staff."
So, why do we walk the cats when it isn't always fun. Walking the cats robs a huge amount of time from other activities.

Just think what might be here! |

Just want to climb the tree |
Luckily we often are near trails or woods. Trees are a must because you never know when the youngest cat want's to stretch her legs.

Trail through the woods |
Curiosity may kill a cat but boredom is death by increments.

What's in this hole |
And your cat will let you know in no uncertain terms when it is bored.

Even the bright new halter and leash don't make me happy |
At least on a leash you can keep them from running into traffic or the path of a dog.

Why can't you follow me through the thicket? |
And they still sample the horderves while on a leash ... bugs, grass, small plants, a slow lizard, earthworm. Which helps reduce the cost of feeding them

Come on, you can do this! |
Still, I can't complain. The cats are safe and we would miss many outdoor opportunities: Viewing the early morning stars and sunrises, Walking in the misting rain, Watching the sky slowly turn dark, Trooping along a nature trail at mid-night.

This is better, you read your book and I'll relax in the shade |
You just never know what the cats have in store for your walk.
