Independence Day 2013 - Wet and Colorful

July 4th, Edgar Evins State Park, TN

Ever wonder how often if rains on July 4th?  I suspect it is over 50% of the time but I will let you research that fact.  It is raining here today, a steady rain which will preclude any planned fireworks.  But just wait for the next dry day and you will hear the celebration.

Guess I should ask what is celebrated?
Having ancestors who migrated to Florida in 1768 and came as indentured servants (slaves) they would not know the meaning of July 4th.   Anyway Florida did not join the United States of America until 1845 and that resulted from questionable circumstances.

Other ancestors arrived in the early 1600s from Scotland and moved to the "Indian Territory" of Kentucky and Indiana.  Well, everyone probably understood the meaning of July 4th but it could be exercised only by the male head of white households.

OK, enough of my rant.  Here are a few fungi photos to prove the woods of Tennessee are both wet and patriotic.
